THE Parish Council asked for its fenced play areas to be included in the new Public Space Protection Order (PSPO):
Area 1: Recreation ground and bowling green
Area 2: Memorial Playing Field
Area 3: Stobart Play Area
It is clear there is a great level of support for this PSPO and we are busy working on the implementation. The PSPO order has been split into two parts:
Part 1 will apply to the all Land, which is defined as any public place, within the local authority area to which the public or any section of the public has access, on payment or otherwise, as of a right or virtue of expressed or implied permission. This means that all land that meets this criteria will be covered and will include some sites that were identified by the Parish Council. The offences relating to these areas will be:
· failing to pick up dog foul,
· allowing a dog to stray or
· failing to place a dog on a lead when directed by an Authorised Officer
Part 2 of this Order applies only to fenced off play areas within the Land that are listed and means that dogs will be ‘banned’ from these designated areas that have been identified and are signed.
The amount of signs required for fenced off play areas has been identified by the number of gates on each fenced of play area. This signage is required to be in place no later than the 1st June 2017. The Council has made arrangements for the signage to be in place on each site's entry/exit gates over the period the 30th and 31st May 2017.
